Showroom and Sales Assistant / Merchandising Coordinator:

Kneen & Co. is the premier destination for luxury tabletop and home décor, featuring the world’s most exclusive brands, many of which create their products using handmade techniques and time-honored traditions.  We are a small but growing company with a showroom in Chicago and a strong online presence.  We work with clients all over the US via email, phone, private appointments and our ecommerce site.  Our clients include discerning individuals, interior designers, and gift/bridal registry customers. Our goal is to provide our customers with the finest selections when outfitting their homes, yachts and private aircraft and to create beautiful environments and experiences that bring joy to everyday living.  We are looking for talented and creative people to help us realize this goal and to help us grow the company.

The showroom coordinator and fulfillment specialist will ensure that the showroom is beautifully maintained and merchandised and will be responsible for fulfillment of all orders.  This person will often be the first point of contact for our customers and will serve as a brand ambassador to bring the wow factor to our clients, whether on a phone call, in person at our showroom or when they open a package.

A successful candidate will be a very organized and detailed oriented self-starter who is comfortable working as a big part of a small team. We are looking for someone who is able to maintain focus and execute multiple objectives with little supervision. Customer service is integral to our business and the ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills in writing, on the telephone, and in person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process all ecommerce orders in our sales system.
  • Receive and inspect all incoming merchandise and prepare goods to be displayed or stored in the showroom or for delivery to customers.
  • Prepare, process, pack and ship all orders (ecommerce, phone, or sales team) according to company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and well merchandised showroom.
  • Prepare and send samples for clients or press loans.
  • Manage inventory of stock items.
  • Answer telephones and receive visitors to our by appointment showroom.  Help to create a unique and satisfying experience for all customers.
  • Support sales team when necessary.
  • Maintain company sales software database by adding new products, updating pricing and inventory levels.
  • Assist in special events and marketing efforts including social media, client presentations and updating ecommerce website.
  • Provide excellent and prompt customer service to clients regarding any questions about the company and about their orders. 
  • Maintain customer database.
  • Communicate company policy to customers as necessary and observe at all times client confidentiality and company policies for data protection and security.
  • Use all company systems confidently and accurately.
  • Work together with your fellow team members to support each other at busy times and in demanding situations.

 

Experience, Skills and Ability:

  • Previous retail experience and/or interior design experience, preferably in a luxury environment.
  • Excellent communication skills. You must be able to display accuracy (spelling, grammar, punctuation and pronunciation) in both written and spoken communication.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent time management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities while maintaining organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe and social media platforms is required; knowledge of Magento, Lightspeed, Photoshop and Mailchimp is preferred.
  • Must show an affinity for the luxury market and consumer.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, positive and energetic with a flexible attitude and positive approach to change.
  • Photography skills are a bonus.
  • Gift wrapping experience is a bonus.

We currently have a full or part-time paid internship opportunity for students or graduates seeking employment experience in the luxury retail, interior design and ecommerce field. This is a unique opportunity for a bright individual to work closely with our owner and marketing team to help gain insight and experience in growing a business.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the marketing team across all functions including email, search marketing, media, promotions, partnerships and affiliates.
  • Research, analyze and report on past promotions, events and brand activities to determine effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Research industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Develop and execute ideas and initiatives with marketing team to drive customer growth and brand awareness in US markets.
  • Organize office for optimal use of space and accessibility.
  • Assist in social media and email campaigns.
  • Assist in showroom merchandising and order fulfilment.
  • Assist in updating and developing ecommerce website.

As a sales associate, you are much more than a point of customer contact, you are our brand ambassador, responsible for ensuring that every interaction in our by appointment showroom and our virtual sales floors exceeds our customers’ expectations. You will ensure that you leverage every customer interaction into a potential sales opportunity, and own the customer experience from order through to delivery and aftercare.  As a team player, you will work closely with the owner and entire team to provide excellent customer service.  You will also seek new customers by preparing and giving company presentations to interior designers and bridal related partners and by initiating other creative sales approaches.
