The Rococo form features the asymmetrical shape and curves typical of the period. Decorated with elaborate naturalistic designs, the Rococo service exemplifies the great elegance and style of 18th Century Europe. As the first "Electoral Court Service," the floral decoration used in the dinnerware was a suitable replacement for fresh flowers which had a tendency to wilt and were frowned upon at court. Replaced by the end of the 18th Century with another service, the Cumberland dinnerware experienced a revival in 1913 when used at the wedding for the son of the Duke of Cumberland. Today, Cumberland is regarded as the finest and most complex floral design realized on porcelain and can take up to three weeks for a painter to create one single piece.

Please note that the dinnerware collection featured above is available in a wide variety of colors, sizes, shapes, and patterns. This dinnerware, like all Nymphenburg dinnerware, may be customized and combined with other patterns. Please contact us for more information and pricing.
